13 Weeks

It's the last week of the first trimester and we're getting closer to getting out of the danger zone. Not that I will ever stop worrying. It's what moms do right? :) I had a bit of a scare on Monday, a lot of cramping, so I called the doctor and they let me come in to check things out. I was able to hear both babies heartbeats and hear them moving around when the nurse poked them. I just need to make sure I stay properly hydrated (1 gallon of water a day) and continue to take it easy.

This week the babies have developed their fingerprints and their bodies are starting to catch up to their heads. They should be almost 3 inches long and weigh an ounce about the size of a peach.

12 weeks

We are getting closer to the end of the first trimester. Supposedly, my hormones are quieting and my symptoms are going away and I feeling less emotional. Ha, apparently my body hasn't gotten the memo. The experts say that my "morning" sickness and fatigue may be replaced with headaches and dizziness.  Well, I wouldn't say replaced, they have joined the party. Lucky me. I just keep reminding myself that these symptoms are all blessings. My little ones are doing well.

My little miracles are the size of plums right now, measuring about 2.1 inches long and weigh about .49 ounces.  Their reflexes are developing, their fingers and will start to open and close and their toes will curl. Most of their critical systems are fully formed and their brains are developing fast. Their eyes have moved to the front of their heads and are no longer on the sides.

11 weeks

11 weeks! The babies are the size of limes now. Their about 1.6 inches long and weigh about .25 ounces. They are almost fully formed.  Even though I can't feel them yet, they are moving around like crazy with graceful movements. Their diaphragms are forming so they are also hiccupping  Best news yet, their fingers and toes are no longer webbed!

As for me, I am still the same, no change to the all day sickness and exhaustion. There is a new evil word on vocabulary. Constipation. Normally I wouldn't mention it, but no one told me, so hopefully this will help someone else. Fiber, Fiber, Fiber!!!

10 Weeks

We have made it to the ten week mark! Time is going by so quickly yet so slowly at the same time. I am just ready to get through the first trimester where the risk of miscarriage is higher. I'm just continually praying and keeping the faith that God will keep my little ones safe.

This week my miracles are about 1.2 inches long and weigh about .14 ounces.  Their about the size of prunes now.  They have working arm joints and bones and cartilage are starting to form. Vital organs are fully formed and are starting to function.  Their fingernails and hair are starting appear too. There is even some kicking and swallowing going on in there too!

Mommy is still incredibly nauseous. Babies really do not like oatmeal. Breakfast this morning was the first time I actually had to rush to prevent myself from vomiting all over myself.  I wish I could sleep for 12 hours night and take a nap during the day. Growing people is hard work. According to Babycenter.com before I got pregnant my uterus was the size of a small pear and is now the size of a grapefruit. That explains why it is hard to fasten my parents. Still waiting for my boobs to get bugger though. I"m hoping the doctor will give me clearance to start walking again I miss my walks on the beach

9 week ultrasound

Last week we went in for our first ultrasound at my new ob/gyn, Dr. G's office. I always get nervous the night  before an appointment. I worry that something will be wrong.  My worries were unfounded though.  The babies were doing great.  They were measuring perfectly at 9 1/2 weeks. Baby 1's heartbeat was 168 and Baby 2's heartbeat was 177.  Baby 2 even wiggled a little bit on the ultrasound.  Everything looked great.

It is so amazing seeing my little miracles.  They look like little gummy bears.  It will be so hard having to wait until the next ultrasound.

I did have a bit of a scare on Thursday night. I noticed a little bit of spotting as I was leaving work. The first thing I did was call the Dr. G's answering service.  The on call nurse called me back in less than 5 minutes and she knew right away that I was pregnant with twins through IVF. I was very impressed.  She didn't think it was anything to worry about but told me to go home and rest for the rest of the night and the next day. and to drink two bottles of water. I followed her instructions exactly and haven't had any other problems.  I was very impressed when they called the next day to check on me.

Still praying for sticky babies and a healthy full term pregnancy.
